About Tanzania

Tanzania has a great deal to offer whether you want an enchanting safari, to chill out on the spice islands of Zanzibar, or be challenged with Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Tanzania really does have it all within its borders for the best of bush and beach safari vacation in Africa.

Tanzania borders Kenya to the north in the heart of East Africa and is home to some of the most concentrated populations of wildlife in Africa. As a safari destination, Tanzania is world-renowned for attractions such as the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire and Lake Manyara. This is where the great migration takes place in the better part of the year, and hundreds of thousands of plains animals can be seen on the move. At Vision Adventure Safaris we suggest the best locations to stay depending on your travel dates for you to encounter this natural wonder.

A safari vacation in Tanzania is one of the most exciting wildlife experiences you can have. There is resident wildlife here throughout the year. In the remote Mahale National Park, there are thriving populations of chimpanzees and it is a very special experience to see these animals in the wild.

For a more remote and untouched safari experience with much quitter, small lodges and less visitors, a visit to the Southern Tanzania would be the most ideal. Sothern Tanzania safaris offer an amazing variety of wildlife and activities. Boat safaris are a popular option in Selous Game Reserve whereas Ruaha National Park is one of the most scenically stunning and ecologically diverse locations for wildlife and for a unique combination of ‘bush and beach’ a stay at Saadani on the Indian Ocean is very suitable.

Besides exploring the national parks for wildlife you can climb Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain through one of its six routes. We highly recommend trekking using the Machame or Marangu Route which are by far the most established to offer the best experiences.

The legendary Zanzibar Islands which comprise of special Spice Island in the Indian Ocean, as well as the lesser known islands like Chumbe and Mafia. This is the perfect place to relax on white sandy tranquil beaches. Add a delightful stay on one of these islands after your Tanzania or Kenya Safari, and you have the perfect African Safari and Beach Vacation.

Reasons to visit:

The endless plains of the Serengeti
One of Africa’s premier wildlife destinations, Serengeti is huge and so we advise the best locations with plenty of game to stay depending on your travel dates since the great migration of the wildebeest, zebra and other plains game moves with predators from one area to another.

Private Wildlife Safari
Tanzania has some of the most exciting wildlife parks in Africa where you are guaranteed fantastic big cat sightings. The Serengeti, Ngorongoro and the Selous are just some of the best game viewing areas to visit and encounter the Big Five (Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo and Elephant).

The Great Migration
The thundering herds of the Great Migration are the main highlight of the Serengeti which passes through this amazing wilderness. Up to close to 2 million wildebeest and zebra have been counted doing their annual trip in search of the sweet fresh foliage and the rains.

The captivating Ngorongoro Crater
This is an area of spectacular beauty and superb game viewing, a truly unique safari destination. The Ngorongoro is within the Serengeti ecosystem and the crater itself is home to more than 25 000 large mammals. Once a large volcano that later collapsed, it is now the largest intact caldera in the world.

Gorgeous Zanzibar Island
With its stunning beaches and fascinating history the Zanzibar is a collection of islands off the coast of Tanzania. The Zanzibar archipelago is set in the Indian Ocean and is made up of the larger islands of Pemba and Unguja (also called Zanzibar Island). Zanzibar is also known as the ‘Spice Island’ due to the delicious variety of spices grown there.

Mount Kilimanjaro
The Challenge of climbing the towering peak of Kilimanjaro – the highest mountain in Africa! The Machame Route gives you the best chance to make it to the summit and is a good all-rounder in terms of value for money and length of the trek.
